Poles
Each HES element is a spectrum, not a category: the Low and High poles describe how it presents at its two extremes, while the Reference marks the typical, everyday middle. The poles map variation across the range — neither end is inherently better or worse.
Low team orientation (individualism in action): operates as a solo agent; cooperation feels constraining; team rules are ignored; priority is personal control and path.
Integrates easily into teams: synchronizes actions, supports shared plan and norms, optimizes for collective outcome.
Team orientation shows in structured settings; in chaotic teams the person reverts to solo strategy.
Measure
Measuring Methods
Real project audit: contribution to shared process, role adherence.
Observation: synchronization willingness and norm maintenance.
Empirical Anchor
Notes
Risks at MIN: chronic coordination failure, team breakdown.
Risks at MAX: blurred personal boundaries; group-dependence.
