Version v1.2.4

Definition

The ability to restore trust after breach via acknowledgment, concrete repair, rule updates, and sustained behavioral change.

Poles

Each HES element is a spectrum, not a category: the Low and High poles describe how it presents at its two extremes, while the Reference marks the typical, everyday middle. The poles map variation across the range — neither end is inherently better or worse.

Low Pole

Denial or empty apology; behavior does not change; trust decays.

High Pole

Trust returns to functional level through verifiable steps and consistency.

Reference

Repairs trust in one domain (personal/pro) better than the other.

Measure

Primary: Trust Recovery Time — time/iterations required to return to prior cooperation level.

Measuring Methods

Case protocols: trust ratings over time + verification of corrective actions.

Empirical Anchor

Trust repair skill / trust violation and repair (Kim et al., 2004; Schweitzer et al., 2006); relational repair.

Notes

Not reducible to words: time + behavior are central.
