Definition

The ability to plan and estimate task duration, meet deadlines, and protect time from fragmentation.

Poles

Each HES element is a spectrum, not a category: the Low and High poles describe how it presents at its two extremes, while the Reference marks the typical, everyday middle. The poles map variation across the range — neither end is inherently better or worse.

Low Pole

Chronic timing error and deadline failure; poor duration estimation; days dissolve into fragmented reactive micro-tasks.

High Pole

Accurate estimation; stable deadline delivery; protected deep-work blocks with realistic buffers.

Reference

Manages well with a single workstream but degrades sharply under parallel demands and interruptions.

Measure

Accuracy: plan vs actual duration error and deadline predictability.
• Consistency: proportion of periods where core time blocks are executed as planned.
